Baptised 20 Mar 1791 in the City of London; son of John Parfitt Nix and his wife Mary Wilson.[1]
John Nix Esquire of the parish of Lewisham in the County of Kent, Bachelor and Caroline Hennings of this Parish Spinster were married in this Church by Licence this Thirty-first day of December in the year one thousand eight hundred and twenty nine. By me Joseph Romilly Fellow of Trinity College Cambridge. This marriage was solemnised between us (signed) John Nix and (signed) C Hennings. Reported in "The Lady's Magazine" page 54 Births, Marriages, and Deaths - Marriages: "On the 31st, at St. Giles's, Camberwell, John Nix, Esq., of Sydenham-common, to Caroline, eldest daughter of C. F. Hennings, Esq., of Dulwich." The Lady's Magazine January 31, 1830.
St Giles medieval church at Camberwell has been described as a "antique and rude structure, the body large and shapeless, with a square tower surmounted by a turret". The old building was repaired in its long life from 1675 until it was destroyed by fire in 1841, a new building was built in 1844.
