Biography

John Davie was involved in Bideford, Devon

John and Thomas Gist were the town Justices in Bideford in 1682. On 3 July 1682, Temperance LLoyd appeared before them to answer charges of "suspicion of having used some magical art, sorcery or witchcraft upon the body of Grace Thomas and to have had discourse or familiarity with the devil in the likeness or shape of a black man."[1] p.7
