Laverne Dobson – he goes by the name “Verne” – is born in about 1915 in Etobicoke Township, Ontario, Canada. Etobicoke is now a part of the City of Toronto. His parents are Arthur Wilbert Dobson (1885-1961) and Laura Mabel Lansdell (1886-1957).
In the 1921 census records, Vern (“Laverna”) is six years old living with his family on the farm in Etobicoke [1]. When he grows up he works for Canada Packers in Toronto. He has a stroke at the age of about 50 [2].
