Death Mrs. W. R. Lauer At Detroit, Michigan, Friday morning, May 20, 1921, Mrs. William R. Lauer died at the home of her son, William Schooley, from paralysis, at the age of 70 years. Mrs. Maggie Lauer was born at Summerford, Ohio, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. William Runyan. She was married to William R. Lauer at Dayton, Ohio, October 30, 1899, and resided in Prospect until shortly after the death of Mr. Lauer, December 19, 1915, when she moved to Detroit to make her home with her son, William Schooley, who survives. Mrs. Lauer was a member of the Prospect M. E. Church and of the Women's Home Missionary Society. She transferred her membership to Detroit after moving to that city. Short funeral services were held at the home in Detroit conducted by Rev. J. J. Halliday, former pastor of the Prospect church, after which the remains were brought to Prospect Saturday afternoon and services held in the M. E. Church, conducted by Rev. W. J. Green, interment following in Prospect Cemetery. The pallbearers were C. J. Cummings, H. W. Wolfley, A. A. Fleming, E. M. Stockwell, Samuel Treece, and C.C. Issler. This lady is actually Margaret "Maggie" Ann Runyan born 18 November 1842 in Summerford's, Somerford Township (this is the correct spelling for this town and Township) Madison, Ohio and died 20 May 1921 in Detroit, Wayne, Michigan – being married near her 2nd husband, William Russell Lauer, in Prospect Cemetery in Prospect, Marion, Ohio. Of course, you will notice right away that this is a different birth date than what is on her gravestone. Maggie was so very very much older than her 2nd husband, I'm sure she "fudged" on her age, thus, also "fudging" on her daughter's age which is also incorrect on her gravestone," Marietta "Etta" Schooley born 23 August 1868 in Warren County, Ohio. It seems Etta never married and died 15 May 1908 in Prospect, Marion, Ohio after a prolonged illness. The census prove Maggie and Etta's ages. Buried: Prospect Cemetery Prospect, Marion County, Ohio, USA.
