Biography
Elizabeth Jane "Betsie J." Unknown was born in January 1839. She married James M. Snow in 1880 after his 1st wife, "Minerva Amanda (Edgeman) Snow had passed away.
Elizabeth and James Snow had one daughter together:
- Susan Alice Snow, b: December 1881 in Smith, Tennessee, USA
James M. Snow died between the June 1900 and June 1910 US Census reports. It's not known if Betsie J. (Unknown) Snow died with him or about the same time or if she survived his passing and re-married. No 1910 Census report for "Elizabeth J. Snow" or "Betsie Snow" has been found for Tennessee.
The 1900 US Census for Smith County, Tennessee, reports that "Betsie J. Snow" was 61 years old, born in Tennessee, and living with her husband, James M. Snow, their daughter, Susan Alice Snow, age 19, a step-son, Ben Snow, age 34, and her husband's grand-daughter, "Doucie Snow," age 12. It further states that Betsie J. Snow had had a total of 5 children and 4 of them were still living in 1900. This would imply that she was a widow when she married James M. Snow in 1880 and that she had had a family before their marriage (it's known they had only 1 living child in 1900 = Susan Alice Snow). [1]
