OBITUARY (1). MR. E. R. BUNBURY. Many residents throughout the State and particularly those in the South West, received a shock on Tuesday last when it was learned that Mr. Edward Archibald Richardson-Bunbury, of Marybrook, had passed away. So sudden was his demise that there were many of his friends who could scarcely believe the sad news.

The late Mr. Bunbury enjoyed good health, and although almost seventy years of age, had on the day of his death been attending to duties on his extensive farm at Marybrook, and gave no indication that he was ill. It is understood that after a tiring day on his farm, he retired fairly early on Monday evening. Later, he suffered a sudden heart attack from which he never rallied. Medical aid was quickly summoned, and he was moved to the Busselton Hospital. On arrival at that institution, however, it was found that life was extinct.

The late Mr. Bunbury was born at "Beachlands" sixty-nine years ago, and was the youngest son of the late Mr. and Mrs. William Richardson-Bunbury, who were both well known throughout the State. His mother was a daughter of the late Colonel Molloy, the founder of Augusta, and whose name is so well known in connection with the pioneering days of this part of the South-West.

Of a straightforward and upright character, deceased had gained the respect and appreciation of a very large circle of friends, whilst the scientific methods of his farming pursuits had earned for him a distinction of being an authority on agriculture in this part of the State.

He was educated at Hale School, and in his early manhood days had occupied a position in the West Australian Bank. After residing at Carnarvon for a short time, he came to Marybrook where he settled and had remained ever since. His two brothers, Messrs. Mervyn and Moutray Richard-Bunbnry, both of whom were well known, predeceased him some years ago. Mrs. W. G. Pickering, of Nedlands, Lady D. O'Farrell (England), Miss Alice Richardson-Bunbury (England), Mrs. W. A. Gale (Melbourne) and Miss E. Richardson-Bunbury (Albany) were his sisters; whilst Mrs. H. Devereanx-Capel, who died in Perth last week, was also a sister.

Besides a sorrowing wife, deceased leaves a grown-up family of three daughters—Corrie (Mrs. J. Cootes), Dorothy (Mrs. B. Broekman) and Marjorie, and one son, Vernon, to all of whom the deepest sympathy is extended.

The funeral took place on Wednesday afternoon, when, after a solemn service in St Mary's Church, the remains were laid to rest at Marybrook, the Rev. R. E. Davies conducting the service at the church and at the graveside. The cortege, which comprised over thirty cars, after leaving the main, road, wound its way through the extensive property of the late Mr. Bunbury, past "Marybrook House" where he had spent so much of his life, and on to St Michael's Church, which was recently built and stands on land given the Anglican Church but a short time ago by deceased himself, and which can be clearly seen from his old home.

As a fitting tribute to the donor, special permission had been obtained to Inter his remains in the church-yard, and no better resting place could have been found for he who had lived so much of his long and useful life in its vicinity.

The chief mourners were Mrs. V. M. Richardson-Bunbury (wife), Mesdames J. Cootes and R. Brockman and Miss Marjory Richardson-Bunbury (daughters), Mr. Vernon Richardson-Bunbury (son), Mr. W. G. Pickering (brother-in-law), Mrs. H. Heppingstone and Miss Connie Heppingstone (sisters-in-law), and Messrs. W. Capel (nephew) and H. and C. Heppingstone;

The pall bearers were Messrs. P. Warburton, P. L. Reynolds, S. Carter, D. Alewift, F. B. Vines and J. Carroll, and the -casket Was borne by Messrs. J. V. Broekman, P. Carter, J. Prince and C. Vines.

Among the large number of people who gathered at the graveside to pay their last respects, the following were noticed: ---His Worship the Mayor of Busselton (Mr. C. B. Andrews), chairman of Sussex Road Board (Mr. S. Carter), Messrs. H. Carter, Sr., H. Carter, Jr., . . . OBITUARY (2): SOUTH-WEST FARMER'S DEATH. Late Mr. A. E. Richardson-Bunbury. A few days after attending the funeral of his sister, the late Mrs. H. Hevereaux Capel, on December 3, Mr. Archibald Edward Richardson-Bunbury, of Marybrook, Busselton, died, and was buried in the churchyard on the boundary of his property on December 8.

He was the youngest and last remaining son of the late Mr. William Richardson-Bunbury, a pioneer settler of Beachlands, Busselton, and Dudinalup, on the Blackwood River, near Nannup. He was a grandson of the late Colonel Molloy.

Like his forefathers, the late Mr. Richardson-Bunbury devoted almost the whole of his life to the grazing industry. He was educated at the High School (now Hale School) and spent a brief period, after leaving school, with the Western Australian Bank. This life did not appeal to him and he went to Carnarvon and spent some time with his brother, Mr. Mervyn Richardson-Bunbury, at Williambury Station.

Subsequently he went to Busselton, where he purchased from the late Mr. Richard Gale a portion of the Marybrook Estate, which was originally the property of his grandfather, Colonel Molloy.

From that time up to the time of his death he devoted himself exclusively to the development of the property from virgin bush to the highest possible stage of production. He concentrated chiefly on the breeding of draught horses, cattle and dairy cattle. He was a keen sportsman and was particularly interested in boxing, tennis and cricket.

He married Miss Vida Heppingstone, daughter of Mr. Arthur Heppingstone, of Cundinup, near Nannup, and is survived by his widow, a son and five daughters. He has five sisters still living.
