Biography

• Birth place according to his Marriage records: Berschkallen, Insterburg, Ostpreußen[1] or[2] -- (Birth place according to his Death record: "Bergkalen, Kr. Insterburg, Ostpr.")

• His first daughter Anna Elise (Sachs) Freund (1895-) was premaritally born to her single mother in her grandma's home at Mühlendamm 3, Insterburg. When Ernst Sachs married her mother on 28 Mar 1896, he also declared his acknowledgement of paternity to the registry office. At that time he lived in Ziegelstraße 25, Insterburg.[3]

• When Schneider (tailor) Otto Ernst married Caroline Wilhelmine Elisabeth (Kadereit) Sachs (1866-1897) in March 1896, he had just turned 25y, while his bride was almost 29y 5m. He lived in Ziegelstraße 25 and she still at Mühlendamm 3, her mother's home. Sadly she died just a year into their marriage, 6 weeks after giving birth to their second daughter Emma Martha Bertha Sachs (1897-).
• That same day her husband declared her death to the registry office. The certificate notes he lived at Mühlendamm 3, so he obviously moved in with her when they got married. According to the birth certificate, in January 1897 the family lived in Vorstadt 3, so both addresses obviously refer to the same house.

• When Otto Ernst married his second wife Emma Marie (Becker) Sachs (1865-bef.1953) in May 1897, he was only 26y old and already widowed, while his bride had just turned 32y. They both lived in Vorstadt, Insterburg - he in No.3 (probably = Mühlendamm 3) and she in No.32.

• Ernst Sachs was a Schneider (tailor), later on Schneidermeister (master tailor) in Insterburg. When the couple's first child was (still)born in August 1898 and their twin girls were born in November 1899, they still lived at Vorstadt 3. By the time their daughter Charlotte Marie Sachs (1901-) was born in May 1901 and their twin girls died in June 1901, the family had moved to Theaterstraße 2. When Ernst Fritz Sachs (1903-1929) was born in January 1903, their address was Vorstadt 49 and when Rudolf Erich Sachs (1903-1977) was born in December 1903, the family already lived in Dobeneckgasse 4a. By the time Rudolf Karl Sachs (1905-1906) was born in June 1905 (and died in August 1906), the family had once again moved to Scharfrichterstraße 8, Insterburg.

• In April 1922 he was his son Erich's groomsman and they lived in Gerichtsstraße 8, Insterburg. He signed as "Ernst Sachs". When his son Ernst Fritz Sachs (1903-1929) died in 1929, Ernst Sachs still lived in Gerichtsstraße 8 (which could indicate a more modern renaming of said Scharfrichterstraße).

• In February 1953 he died as Emma's widower in Krankenhaus (hospital) "Rheinhöhe" in Erbach (Rheingau), Hessen, of "Schlaganfall bei Herzmuskelschaden" (stroke and heart muscle damage). At that time he was living in Wiesbaden-Biebrich. His daughter Anna Elise (Sachs) Freund (1895-) (from his first marriage) in 1920 had married in Mainz-Kastel, Hessen.
