Biography

Ann Pakington was a daughter of Humfrey Pakington and Elizabeth Harding.[1][2]

Marriages

In the Visitation of Worcestershire in 1569 she was recorded as Ann Pakington, daughter of Humfrey Pakington and Elizabeth Harding; and the wife of (1) 'Humfrey' Style, Merchant; (2) Edward Jackman of London, Alderman; (3) James Bacon of London, Alderman; (4) Sir Edward Baynton.[1]

Anne 'Paginton' married Edmond Style on 10 Jun 1543 at St Michael Bassishaw, City of London.[3]

In the will of her uncle, Sir John Pakington, in 1551, he made a bequest to his cousin Edmund Style of London and his wife.[4].

In the will of her father, Humphrey, in 1556, Ann was not mentioned but he referred to the children of his son in law Edmund Stile.[5]

In the will of her mother, Elizabeth, in 1563, she was recorded as Ann Stile.[6] Edmund Stile was a witness to the will. Edmund Stile died in Feb 1563/1564.

She married secondly Edward Jackman, Alderman.[7]

The Marriage Licence for Anne Style, widow of St Michael Bassishaw, and Edward Jackman of St Peter le Poer, was granted on 12 Apr 1564.[8] Anne Style and Edward Jackman, Alderman, were married on 15 Apr 1564 at St Michael Bassishaw, City of London.[9]

In the Jackman Pedigree in the Visitation of Essex she was recorded as the second wife of Edward Jackman esq of Hackton, Essex, Alderman of London. The Pedigree indicates that the three sons of Edward namely John (eldest) who married Jane, daughter of Richarde Lambert of London, Alderman; Henry (second son) and Thomas (third son) were the sons of Edward and Anne.[10] However, based on the baptisms of Jackmans at St Stephen Walbrook, City of London, it would appear that they were the sons of Edward and his first wife, and not Anne.

Anne was a beneficiary and co-Executor of the will of her second husband, Edward Jackman, Grocer, Alderman of Saint Stephen Walbrook, City of London, the will made on 10 May 1568 and 24 Sep 1569 and proved on 05 Feb 1569/1570.[11]

She married thirdly James Bacon.[2] Mistress 'An Jackman married Jeames Baken' on 01 Sep 1571 at St Peter le Poer, City of London.[12]

Anne was a beneficiary and co-Executor of the will of her third husband James Bacon, Citizen, Alderman and Fishmonger of London, the will made on 22 Apr 1573 and proved on 02 Oct 1573.[13]

Anne Bacon, widow, married Sir Edward Baynton, Kt on 01 Dec 1575 at St Peter le Poer, City of London.[14]

Burial

Lady Anne Baynton was buried on 06 Mar 1587/1588 at Bromham, Wiltshire.[15][16]
