Gladys Electra Holland was born on February 6, 1894 in Queensland, Australia. She was the daughter of James Holland and Lucy Willoughby.[1]
A police gazette from June 21, 1916 features a complaint (in the 'Deserting Wives and Families, Service, etc.' section) from Gladys about a Malcolm John Wallis who "fail[ed] to make adequate provision for the payment of preliminary expenses of and incidental to and immediately succeeding the birth of an infant."[2]
Gladys may have married a William George/Arthur Miner sometime after 1916. Her death record as well as a number of electoral rolls list her as 'Gladys Electra Miner' after this date until her death. These rolls also list a William Arthur Miner living at her residence in Glebe between the 1940s and 1960s, however this could be her son. Her death record also lists her as Gladys Electra Miner. A son named William Arthur Miner was born in 1926 and his death record lists his parents as William Arthur and Gladys Electra.[3] A newspaper article from March 24, 1933 announces the funeral of 'William George Miner' and lists his widow as Mrs. Gladys E. Miner.[4] Despite all this evidence suggesting they are married, no marriage record can be found.
Gladys passed away on June 22, 1970 in Sydney.[5]
