MARYBOROUGH. (BY ELECTRIC TELEGRAPH.](FROM OUR OWN CORRESPONDENT.) Wednesday 12th January. An extraordinary election took place today for a vacancy caused in the Maryborough Borough Council by the resignation of Cr William Page.Mr John Barrass Stamp, with 251 votes, was returned, Mr James Evans only polling 192.

When John Barrass STAMP was born on 5 April 1832 in Seaham, Durham, his father, Robert, was 21 and his mother, Catherine, was 23. He married Mary Ann STAMP (Born BULMER) on 8 November 1851 in South Shields, Durham. They had 11 children in 20 years. He died on 22 July 1901 in Donald, Victoria, at the age of 69.

THE 'PUNCH' FREE ACCIDENT COUPON. PARTICULARS were given a fortnight back of a claim made by the executrix of the late Mr. John Barrass Stamp for £100 in consequence of the death by a buggy accident of her husband, who was a regular subscriber to PUNCH. We have received from Mrs. Stamp the following letter, which must be considered satisfactory :— Dear Sirs,—I have much pleasure in informing you that I have received from the Ocean Accident and Guarantee Corporation Ltd., of London, the sum of one hundred pounds, insurance money, payable on account of the death by accident of my late husband, John Barrass Stamp, he at the time of meeting with such accident being a registered subscriber to PUNCH.— Yours truly, M. A. STAMP, Executrix of the will of John Barrass Stamp, deceased.
