Biography

Florence L. Bates was born in Illinois in 1883, a daughter of David R. Bates (1853-?) and Sarah A. Tunnison (1858–1933).^[1] She grew up on the family farm.

When she was just 17 years old, she married Frank G. Turner (1874-1953) on 5 September 1900 in Wayne County, Pennsylvania.^[2], ^[3] They made their home on a farm in Clinton Township. Their children included:

1. Ethel Turner (1904-2003)
2. Clarence Leslie Turner (1907-1964)
3. Edith Turner (1909-2003)
4. Blanche L. Turner (1913 - 2005)

She passed away at age 96 in 1979 in Gold Star Nursing Home in Milton, Northumberland, Pennsylvania. She was buried with her husband in Canaan Corners Cemetery, Waymart, Wayne County, Pennsylvania.^[4]
