Biography

John William Abbott Jillard was born on 5 Jan 1867 in Plymouth, Devon, England to Robert Bond Jillard and Celia (Abbott) Jillard. His birth was registered in Plymouth in the first quarter of the year, with mother's maiden name Abbott.^[1]

John William Abbott Jellard, son of Robert, a sailor, & Celia, residing at 26 New Street, was born on 5 Jan 1867 and christened on 1 Feb 1867 at Holy Trinity Parish Church in Plymouth.^[2]

In 1871 John W A Jillard (age 4) lived in Plymouth St Andrew with his father Robert (33, Seaman), mother Celia (29), and sister Alice M (2).^[3]

In 1881 John Wm Jillard (age 14, Scholar) lived in Plymouth St Andrew with his father Robert (43, Seaman), mother "Eliza"[Celia] (40), sister Alice (12, Scholar), and brother Harry Abbot (0).^[4]

In 1891 John W Jillard (age 24, Steam Engine Maker Fitter) lived in Plymouth with his father Robert (53, Seaman Royal Navy), mother Celia (50), sister Alice M (22, Dressmaker), and brother Harry A (10, Scholar).^[5]

John went to Bermuda sometime before 1896, and accidentally drowned there on 15 Apr 1896, aged 30 years. He is buried at the Royal Naval Cemetery in Ireland Island, Bermuda.^[6]
