William was born in 1801. William Findlay ... [1] There has been no record of his birth found, but his death certificate indicates he was 68 when he died in 1869 according to a witness, William Findlay, his son.

William was a farm servant and according to his death certificate, he dropped down suddenly and died while in a field on a farm near St. Cyrus, in 1869, as reported by his son William. His age was changed in a subsequent report to 68 at the time of his death. His son also gave William's father's name as Alexander. William had stated in census reports that he was born in Monifieth.
