Edwin Verburg, was born as Ardewijnes Verburg, 17 January 1869 in Colijnsplaat, Zeeland, Nederland. He was the son of Cornelis Verburg and Jacomina Johanna Westerweel.
Edwin Immigrated to the United States in 1890. He was naturalized. In 1900, Edwin was living in Hyde Park Township, Chicago, Cook County, Illinois, United States with his wife, Jennie, and children, Magdalene and Cornelius. He worked "riggs on a boat." [1]
In 1910, Edwin and Jennie were living in Heyburn, Lincoln County, Idaho, United States with their children: Magdelina J., Cornalius J., Leonard W., Anthony E., James P. and George W. Edwin was working as a farmer on a general farm of which he was the employer. [2]
Edwin was a bridge builder in Idaho. He was in charge of the payroll. One day, he disappeared and they reported him missing. Later, they found no one had received their paychecks, and he had taken off with all the money. He never returned to his wife and family. He moved to Australia.
Edwin is no longer listed as living with his wife Jennie and their children on the 1920 United States Census. Jennie is listed as still married, but she is also now listed as the head of household.
Edwin passed away on 13 March 1965 in Darwin, Northern Territory, Australia and is buried at Darwin General Cemetery in Jingili, Darwin City, Northern Territory, Australia. [3]
