Janet Leslie was born in Scotland.

Janet Leslie]] is the daughter of George Leslie and Margaret (Crichton) Leslie[1][2][3] and therefore born before or about the time of their divorce in Dec 1520.

She married firstly, David Crichton of Naughton before 11 Mar 1541. David died circa 1554.

She married secondly, John Grant of Freuchie before 15 May 1557. John died in 1585.

She married thirdly, Lord Elphinstone.

4. Janet, styled sister of David Pantar, Bishop of Ross, and therefore the daughter of Margaret Crichton. She was married to David Crichton of Naughton, before 11 March 1540-41, (Reg. of Deeds, ii.159 where a progress of writs is given.) when Sir Peter Crichton, of Naughton, David, his grandson, and Janet Leslie, David's wife, had a tack in feufarm of the lands of Bogy and others. David Crichton died about 1553 and on 6 January 1553-54 the nonentry duties were gifted to David, Bishop of Ross, who, on 25 January, regranted them to his 'lovit sister,' Janet Leslie, relict of David Crichton. (Acts and Decreets, xxvi. ff. 243, 244.) She was married, secondly, before 15 May 1557,(Reg. of Deeds, ii. f. 157.) to John Grant of Freuchie, who died in 1585, and whom she survived, marrying as her third husband, before 6 August 1587, James Elphinstone, brother of Robert, third Lord Elphinstone. She died at Kirkcaldy 17 December 1591.(Chiefs of Grant, i. 152,153; Edib, Tests., 28 June 1593.)[3]
