Biography

Frederick Augustus Dudley was born 6 January 1842 in Madison, Connecticut. He was the son of Samuel W. and Mary Dudley. ^[1]

Frederick enlisted in the 7th infantry, Connecticut and transferred a week later as a Hospital Steward. He became a Medical Cadet, then Surgeon, attending Yale University School of Medicine, New Haven.^[2][3] He met Cornelia Hancock when they both worked at the Hospital at Brandy Station. They did not marry. ^[4]

Frederick wed Sarah Jane Slocum about 1871^[5] and they made their home in Genoa, Cayuga, New York. They had no children. Frederick was a member of the New York state assembly from Cayuga County, 1907-08.

Frederick passed away 14 January 1923 in Auburn, New York. ^[6] He was buried at West Genoa Cemetery. ^[7]
