Biography
Christian Snyder was born about 1824 in Pennsylvania, United States.[1][2][3]
No record has been identified for his parents. In some unsourced family trees, they are listed as Johann Mathias Snyder (born 1743) and Mary Holm (born 1783), but no basis is given for this and their ages make them an unlikely match.
In the 1850 US census, Christian Snyder (26) was living in Saville, Perry, Pennsylvania. He was a carpenter.[1]
He married Susanna Toy.[4]
In 1860, Christian Snyders (36) was living in Saville, with wife Susan Snyders (26) and children John (5) and Laura (4), and with Susan Billman (36) and her two children. He was a farmer.[5]
He served in the military during 1864-1865 as a private with the 208th Regiment, Company E, Pennsylvania Volunteers.[6]
In the 1870 US census, Christian Snyder (46) was living in Saville, with wife Susana Snyder (36) and children John (15), Laura (13), Samuel (12), Harriet (10), David (3) and Andrew. He was working as a laborer.[2]
In the 1880 US census, Christian Snyder (58) was living in Saville, with wife Susan (44), and children Samuel (21), David (13), Andrew (10) and George M (8).[3]
He died on 5 Apr 1897. He was buried at Bloomfield Cemetery, New Bloomfield, Pennsylvania, United States.[7]
