Obituary

McCONNELL, Judith D. Of Watertown passed away in the early morning of January 23, 2010 after a long battle with Cancer. Judy was born and raised in Montclair, NJ. After graduating from Smith College in 1963, she moved to Cambridge and quickly made the Boston area her permanent home. She was devoted to Massachusetts, loved local politics and was an avid Celtics fan. Judy received a master's degree from the Boston College School of Social Work and worked in the area of community development and urban planning. During her career, she held positions with private consulting firms and with the Commonwealth and federal governments. In addition, she served in various capacities for non-profit groups dedicated to fair housing, social equality, religious tolerance and world peace. Judy was married to the late Rev. Allen Happe, minister of First Church in Cambridge (Congregational), who brought her enormous joy. She is survived by her daughter Nell Beram, her son-in-law Joe Klompus and their children, Eva and Marlon of Cambridge; her step-children, Rachel McEnroe of Andover and Karl Happe of Munich, Germany and her brother Terry McConnell of Miami. Aside from her immediate family, she leaves countless friends from as far back as elementary school and summer camp, all of whom she maintained contact with and drew support from over the years. A memorial service is scheduled for February 13th at 11 a.m. at First Church in Cambridge. In lieu of flowers, please make a tax-deductable donation to the Camp Wawenock Scholarship Fund, 33 Wawenock Rd., Raymond, ME 04071-6824. Anderson-Bryant Funeral Home 781-438-0135
