There were at least four children, according to his daughter and law Bessie Fenton's journal. Michael, Thomas and John. All Captains and Catherine who married David Burn of Ellangowan and Rotherwood in 1832. the brothers all seem to have come to Tasmania. John Fenton lost an eye to bushrangers while defending his home. The brothers were sometimes referred to as "The fighting Fentons" as they were all Captains.
In 1824 he presided over a discussion re the "propriety of the indiscriminate reading of the Bible" the "discussion was held in the Catholic chapel of Easky, on the 23rd and 24th November, under the chairmanship of Michael Fenton, Esq., of Castletown"[4]
In 9 Feb 1828 there is a "Letter from Michael Fenton, Castletown, Dromore West, [County Sligo], seeking legal advice on the compelling of witnesses to testify in an attempted abduction case" [5]
