Biography

This profile is part of the Clayton Name Study.

Jasper Clayton was the son of John Clayton (~1630–1704) and Alice Bowyer (~1644–~1718).

He was Lieutenant General in the English Army and Lieutenant Governor of Gibralter.

Jasper married Juliana Loftus, daughter of Sir Nicholas Loftus and Eleanor Butler. Their children were:

Jasper died in 1743 in the Battle of Dettingen. He was buried at Wingfield. County Bucks.
