Rives says that Malcolm was a successor to Stephanus but does not state that he was a direct successor or that he was the son of Stephanus. Malcolm appears to be the great-grandson of Stephanus.[3] Douglas has him as as the great-grandson as well but names the father as Symon rather than Malcolm.[4]
