Richard Thompson Lawley, 4th Baron Wenlock was born on 21 August 1856. He was the son of Beilby Richard Lawley, 2nd Baron Wenlock and Lady Elizabeth Grosvenor.
He married Rhoda Edith Knox-Little, daughter of Reverend W. J. Knox-Little, on 31 July 1909.
He succeeded to the title of 4th Baron Wenlock, of Wenlock, co. Shropshire [U.K., 1839] on 15 January 1912. He succeeded to the title of 11th Baronet Lawley, of Spoonhill, Shropshire [E., 1641] on 15 January 1912
He died on 25 July 1918 at age 61, without issue.
