FUNERAL FOR MRS. J. BROOKS

ON WEDNESDAY Services In Baptist Church In Blooming Prairie In Afternoon -- Blooming Prairie womean came to Blooming In Spring Of 1867 -- Blooming Prairie, March 24 - The funeral for Mrs. John Brooks, for many years a resident of Blooming Prairie village, took place Wednesday, with a short service at the home of her nephew, Luther Ferrington, north of this village and then at the Baptist Church in Blooming Prairie at 2 o'clock. Rev. Edward C. Stauffer officiated. The interment was made in the family lot in the Blooming Prairie Cemetery beside the grave of her husband, whose death occurred in 1917. Mrs. Brooks was a charter member of the Baptist Church in Blooming Prairie. Mrs. Brooks maiden name was Caroline Ferrington. She was a native of New York syate. Her parents were Abner Elias and Caroline (Vanderburg Tabor) Ferrington, who were among the early pioneers of Minnesota. They came to Blooming Prairie in 1867 and setteled on a farm township. The family had moved from New York state to Wisconsin in 1858 and then moved again in 1862 and setteled in Rice county, where they lived until coming to Blooming Prairie. Miss Ferrington became the bride of John M. Brooks January 25, 1868. The family made their home in Blooming Prairie many years. To Mr. amd Mrs. Brooks were born one daughter, Emma Luella (12-8-1871 / 08-20-1924), who became Mrs. John Schutt. Her death occurred August 20, 1924. Mr. Brooks was killed in an automobile accident, July 4, 1917. Mrs. Brooks was prominent and active in church circles in Blooming Prairie. She was held in high respect and esteem. For several years she has been making her home with her nephew, Luther Ferrington. She is survived by her brother, William Ferrington, Blooming Prairie; sister Mrs. Mary Mason, Los Angeles, California; and a grandson, Monroe Schutt, of Thayer, Missouri. Mr. Schutt was in attendance at the funeral.
