Biography

Margaret was the daughter of Sir Alexander Seton of Pitmedden, 1st Baronet, who died on 29 May 1719, and his wife Margaret, who died on 19 Oct 1723, daughter of William Lauder, Clerk of Session.

She married Sir John Lauder of Fountainhall, 3rd Bt., son of Sir John Lauder of Fountainhall, 2nd Bt. and Janet Ramsay, on 10 August 1696 at Edinburgh, Midlothian, Scotland.

Their seven children include:

Sir Alexander Lauder of Fountainhall, 4th Bt. b. 6 Nov 1698, d. 17 May 1730

Sir Andrew Lauder of Fountainhall, 5th Bt. b. 8 May 1702, d. 6 Mar 1769^[1]

In the burial vault of the Lauder family within Greyfriars Church, Edinburgh, are recorded Sir John Lauder, 3rd Bt., and his wife Margaret Seton, as being interred there.^[2]
