Biography
John Dalton of Kingston upon Hull, in par. St. Trinity, aka John Dalton of Hull, merchant.[1] He served as sheriff in 1482, mayor in 1487 & 1495.[1]

John was the son of:
His father is said to be the founder the Dalton branch that later settled at Hawkswell in Richmondshire.[2]
His mother went on to remarry two more times. Her second husband was John Whitfield, mayor of Hull and the last was Sir Richard York, MP.[1]
Marriage
He married Catherine (d. 1545 Hull, co. York), dau. of Robert Alcock of Hull, merchant (will 14 Aug 1484).[2] Her paternal grandfather WIlliam Alcock, merchant, was the brother of John Alcock, bishop of Ely (c. 1430 – 1 October 1500).[2][3]

Death
John died 10 Aug 1494, and was buried at Trinity church in Hull.[1] His wife Catherine remarried to Robert Harrison.[2][4] She requested burial at Trinity church in Hull near her first husband, John Dalton.[2]
