Elspet, or Elsie, as she came to be known, was born to Barbra Logie, who was not married at the time. Elsie's marriage registration says that Barbra (spelt Barbara by the officials but not herself) subsequently married Alexander Russell, a master ships rigger, who was present at the marriage. The marriage was not in a church, orconducted by a minister, but in front of witnesses in the presence of the Sheriff Substitute of Lanarkshire. The witnesses were Alexander Russell, ship rigger and Peter Morrison, a illegible who lived at 9 Scotstown Place, Renfrewshire. Elsie's place of residence is given as 6 Scotstown Place. Adam Ramsay Geddie is described as Seaman (2nd Mate) - his residence is given as "on board Steam Ship Duke of Portland"
In the 1921 census Elsie is married, head of household, 53, and her occupation is home duties. She is living at Holland Place, Parish ward of Thirteenth, Burgh ward of twenty-fith or Whiteinch in Partick, Glasgow.
