Charles Lloyd Shaffer of Sullivan, MO, passed away on Tuesday, October 21, 2008 at the age of 90 years. Lloyd was born August 15, 1918 to Charles C. and Violet (nee Naugle) Shaffer of Sullivan, Mo. After graduating from Sullivan High School, he married Bernice Irene Woodruff on January 31, 1941 in Rolla, Mo. Lloyd was the last great-great grandson of Stephen and Dorcas Sullivan who founded Sullivan, Mo. He served his country in World War II, and retired from Meramec Mining Company as an equipment operator. Lloyd was Boy Scout Troop 444’s oldest living scout in the Sullivan area. He was preceded in death by his wife, Irene, of 66 years, his parents and a sister Joyce Billington. He is survived by four children; seven grandchildren; and ten great-grandchildren. Lloyd will be sadly missed by family and friends. Lloyd and Irene Shaffer wintered in Florida for 26 years and enjoyed traveling extensively in America.
