Biography

Janet Bothwell was daughter of Sir Francis Bothwell ^[1] and his wife, Katherine Bellenden. ^[2] Her father died in 1535 ^[3] while she was still quite small.

Sometime before 1550 she married Sir Archibald Napier, son of Alexander Napier and his wife, Annabella Campbell.^{[1] [2]} They are known to have had at lest two sons, Francis who died quite young and John.^[2] The marriage was not particularly happy as she is known to have complained to her brother, the Reverend Adam Bothwell, about her husband.^[1]

Janet died in 1563. ^[2][1]
