Biography

Leoluca Bernardo Nicolo’ Boscarello is born and baptized 27 February 1823 in Corleone. He is the son of Don Giuseppe Boscarello and Donna Maria Teresa di Cesare. His godparents are Don Antonino and Giovanna Gioachina Vintigliano, a married couple.^[1]

Don Giuseppe Boscarelli, 53 (b. 1781), his wife Donna Maria Teresa, 40 (b. 1794), and children Donna Rosa, 25 (b. 1809), Don Gaetano, 23 (b. 1811), Maria Carmela, 13 (b. 1821), Leoluca, 12 (b. 1822), Rosalia, 9 (b. 1825), and Vincenza, 7 (b. 1827) live on the eastern end of the Strada Grande (where via Roma meets via San Michele Arcangelo) in Corleone. Next door is the family of Maestro Gesualdo Berritella.^[2]

A clandestine marriage is performed between Don Leoluca and Donna Rosa Pappalardo, daughter of Don Paolo Pappalardo and Donna Rosa Monsolino, on 27 August 1848, in the presence of the priest Don Giuseppe Federico Milone, in the sacristy of the Church of Santa Rosalia, today the church of the monastery of Santa Maria Maddalena, and with the witnesses Epifanio Tufanio of unknown parents, and Michaelangelo Baldassare. His mother has died by this time.^[3]

Don Leoluca and Donna Rosina have at least one child, Giuseppe (1849), named after his paternal grandfather.

Giuseppe is born and baptized 12 December 1849 in Corleone. This language in the baptismal record, in which the term "legitimate" is not used, indicates his parents are not married. Giuseppe's godparents are Don Gaetano Boscarelli and Donna Michaela Natale, a married couple.^[4]

Giuseppe dies, reportedly at age two (he is three years old) on 17 December 1852.^[5]
