In the 1850 census for Anderson Co., TN, William Cross (age 39) was head of a household that included Crosses named Jane (age 31), Mary R. (age 12), John (age 7), Joseph (age 3), George (age 3), and Sabra (age 1). There was a Nathan Bandy (age 19) also living in the home. All individuals were b. in TN.

Death of Joe B. Cross

Mr. Joe B. Cross died Thursday night at ten o'clock at his home at Robertsville, following a lingering illness of several months. He was one of Anderson County's veteran and widely known farmers and his death will cause regret to a large circle of friends.

He leaves a family of daughters and sons to mourn his death. The daughters being Mrs. Mitchell of Harriman; Mrs. Will Offutt of Offutt, and Miss Faith Cross a student at Johnson City Normal College. The sons are E.C. Cross, proprietor of Clinton Hardware Co. and W.D. Cross of Spokane, Wash.

Funeral services will be conducted Sunday morning at ten o'clock at the home at Robertsville. The deceased was a member of the Masonic order and the lodges will attend the funeral services.
