Biography

Nathan was born in 1868. He was the son of Nathan Beardsley and Margaret Hurd. He passed away in 1943.[1]

“Nate” was known, far and wide, through his clinging to the raising of Devon cattle, which made the Beardsley farm in Roxbury, famous for more than a century. It was here that his great-grandfather settled about, 1800, and here, at the age of ten years, he started aiding he father with the exhibiting oxen and cattle at the various fairs in the east. Their Devon stock took prizes, most of them blue ribbons, for over sixty-five years.

He was a good-natured, friendly gentleman, of the old fashioned type, and sojourners or people passing over the “good Hill” road were usually invited to tarry. [Holt]
