Maria "Mary" was born in the Richland Community, the oldest child of August Jr. and Alvina Mueller Dossmann, and the sister to Augusta Dossmann Hodde Foerster, Alfred W. Dossmann Hodde, and half sister to Loydean Paul Hodde. After the death of her father at an early age and the subsequent marriage of her mother to Louis Hodde, Mary and her siblings were adopted by Louis Hodde. She was baptized and confirmed in the Richland St. John Evangelical Lutheran Church. Mary married Herbert Frank Emil Gebert in the St. John Church on October 31, 1929 (the birthday of her beloved grandfather, Rheinhold Mueller). Herbert and Mary's children were Eva Lee who died at the age of ten days, Evangeline Williams, Geraldine Irvine, and Juanita Eckert. Mary assisted Herbert in farming and ranching operations in the Richland area, Bishop and Robstown areas of South Texas, Copperas Cove and in the Sandy Hill area near Brenham. She also worked as a bookkeeper while they owned and operated the Ford tractor dealership in Alice Texas. She occasionally worked as a store clerk. Mary was an excellent seamstress and quilter. She was living in Shiner,Texas near her daughter when she died.
