In the household record for Skinnskatteberg parish, started in 1663, Johan Funk and his siblings Thomas, Britha and Margretha were written into the page for Skärviken manor from the beginning.[1]
Johan Simonsson Funck died in 1695, at an age of 45 years. There is a long obituary, telling us that he was born 7 July 1649 in Stockholm. He studied in Uppsala and abroad, in Amsterdam; travelled in England, France, Germany and Italy. He came back to his parents in 1673, and leased the ironworks at Skärviken from them in 1674. He married Catharina Diurklo in 1678 (in Stockholm?) and had one son, before she died. He suffered from consumption the last few years before he died.[2]
