Biography

Rebecca was born about 1795. She was the daughter of Joseph Rood and Lois White^[1][2]

Joseph Rood emigrated from Lebanon, Connecticut to Pomfret, Chautauqua County. They traveled through snow with 2 ox teams and a horse team, arriving 17 Feb 1816. They traveled with Joseph's step mother who was over age 90. Joseph's son George Rood was born in Windom County 4 Sept 1802..^[3]

She married John Taxbox.^[1][2]

In September 1850 she was living in Pomfret, Chautauqua, New York.^[4] The household included Charles N Tarbox age 23 born in New York, Elizabeth Tarbox age 22 born in Massachusetts, Frank Tarbox age 2 months born in New York, John Tarbox age 53 born in Connecticut, Rebecka Tarbox age 53 born in Connecticut, and Rebecka T Tarbox age 17 born in New York.

In 1855 she was living in Pomfret, Chautauqua, New York.^[5] The household included Charles Tarbox age 27 born in Chautauqua County, his wife Elizabeth Tarbox age 26 born in Massachusetts, son Frank Tarbox age 5 born in Chautauqua County, son John B Tarbox age 3 born in Chautauqua County, son Charles Tarbox age 2 born in Chautauqua County, mother Rebecca Tarbox age 58 born in Connecticut, brother Horace R Tarbox age 32 born in Chautauqua County, and sister Rebecca A Tarbox age 22 born in Chautauqua County.

She died in Pomfret in Nov 1860.^[2] She was from a large family and was survived by a brother, a sister, 2 sons, and 3 daughters.

She is buried at Pioneer Cemetery, Fredonia, Chautauqua county, New York.^[6]
