Biography

Phebe was a Friend (Quaker)

Phebe was born on 1d 9m 1828 [1 Sep 1828] in Dutchess, New York.[1] She was the daughter of David Irish and Martha (Titus) Irish.[1]

She married first Joseph Pierce, Jr., son of Joseph and Hannah of Mount Pleasant, on 15d 3m 1852 [15 Mar 1852] at David Irish’s house in Pawling.[2]

She was received on certificate at the Chappaqua monthly meeting on 14d 12m 1854 [14 Dec 1854].[3] She was accompanied by her husband and their child William J.[3]

She was received on certificate back at the Oblong monthly meeting on 9d 2m 1860 [9 Feb 1860].[4] She was joined by her children Annie S., Joseph D., and Henry.[4] Her husband had presumably died.[4]

She married second Jedediah J. Wanzer, son of Nicholas and Almira, on 14d 5m 1866 [14 May 1866].[5]

She died 20d 1m 1907 [20 Jan 1907], aged 78 years.[6] She was buried in Pawling Cemetery.[7]
