Walter Bonhoeffer (1899–1918) was born in Breslau, Germany on December 10, 1899. He was the second son of Karl Bonhoeffer and Paula von Hase He was called to the western front in World War I. [1] Walter left home in April 1918 and only two weeks later he died of a shrapnel wound in Francourt France. He was injured by an exploding shell on April 23, and died on April 28.1918 [2]
