Married Eliza Jane Wallace on 10 Nov 1856 in Fermanagh, Ireland. Their children included:

Francis joined the New South Wales Police Force on 4 Mar 1863 at age 27. He was 5 foot 10.5 inches and had blue eyes and auburn hair. He worked in the Eastern, North Western and Metropoltion areas. He discharged on a pension on 31 Dec 1900.

Married Emma Elizabeth Hunt Kaye on 1 Jun 1875 in Queanbeyan. Their children included:

AN EX-CONSTABLE'S DEATH
The death occurred on Tuesday, at Bowning. near Yass, of ex Constable Eglington, at the age of 78. Deceased had been stationed at Bowning for many years, and was regarded as an efficient officer. He joined the police force in the stirring bushranging days, and had many brushes with outlaws. He was well known in Queanbeyan having been stationed here many years ago.'Several families in this district were related to deceased. On his retirement from the force he continued to reside at Bowning. The funeral took place yesterday afternoon and the service at the graveside was conducted with Masonic rites.
