Biography

According to the Memoir of the Descendants of Capt. William Fowler, of New Haven, Connecticut Joseph was born 28 Sep 1691 in Norwich.

Joseph was the son of Jonathan Fowler and Elizabeth Reynolds

m. Jan. 8, 1712/3 Elizabeth Powell. ^[1]

Excerpt from Memoir of the Descendants of Capt. William Fowler, of New Haven, Connecticut

Often called Colonel. He was a magistrate and a man of worth. He was a deputy of Lebanon 1726 to 1759. He owned a farm of 150 acres and then removed to East Haddam, Conn. in 1763 where he was a corporal and a constable. He died in Haddam where his wife died of the same year. They did not have any children, but they raised a nephew Joseph Fowler, son of Jonathan. Joseph became a eminent clergyman of East Haddam.

Joseph died in Haddam 1768 and is buried in Moodus Cemetery, Moodus, Middlesex County, Connecticut, his wife wife died about 5 mths after him in the same year.^[2]

Will in Probate Aug 2 1768, Leaving to his wife Elizabeth and Nephew Joseph his estate, Will written in May 23, 1768 ^[3]
