Obituary

Virginia Meriwether LaCour, 94, passed away peacefully on September 29, 2013 in Charlottesville, Va. Virginia was born on December 21, 1918 in Sanford, FL to the late Charles Meriwether and Hazel Hand Meriwether. She graduated from LSU with a B.S. degree in 1939. She met her husband, Dr. B.J. LaCour, while working at Charity Hospital in New Orleans. She and her husband moved to Daytona Beach in 1951. Virginia and Dr. LaCour started Consolidated Inns in 1959 and developed 8 Holiday Inns, 2 Hampton Inns and Holiday Care Center. Virginia was the organizational force behind the business, as well as a devoted wife and mother to her seven children. After they retired, Virginia and BJ spent their time in Connestee Falls, NC.

She is survived by her sons, Bennett Joseph LaCour III, Charles LaCour (Jean), Jeffrey LaCour (Sandy), Ernest Vincent "Buddy" LaCour (Gail) all of the Daytona Beach area, Stephen "T-Bone" LaCour and daughter-in-law, Denise LaCour both of Charlottesville, Va. She is also survived by her brother, Dr. Richard Meriwether, Clearwater, 21 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren and 2 great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband of 54 years, Bennett Joseph LaCour Jr., her daughter, Lynne Fagan, her son, William Gregory LaCour, her daughter-in-law, Maria LaCour and her granddaughter, Martha LaCour.

A memorial service will be held at the Prince of Peace Catholic Church, Ormond Beach at 10:30 A.M, October 19, 2013.
