It was finding daughter Elizabeth's marriage certificate that made me re think it all, as she showed her father as John, as do her brothers William Henry and Joseph, their sister Charlotte who I have just found is shown at baptism as daughter of John and Elizabeth. Originally I had a baptism for William Henry linked to him from 1837 on the same day Mary Ann Crump daughter of Elizabeth Sarah Crump was also on and both were shown born out of wedlock to William Field and Elizabeth Sarah, of course it was Thomas Crump born 1837 that this baptism must have been ment for as for some reason he was named William at baptism and again on the 1851 cemsus but we know from his age at 1851 that William could only have been Thomas. Elizabeth Sarah Crump had two children with a William Field but did not marry him as in 1848 we find Elizabeth Sarah married in Somerset to John Gornell and was shown single and married as Crump. In 1851 we see that John Gornell with Elizabeth Sarah in Wandsworth. John shown as Head Elizabeth as wife, we then have lodgers but she shows them in an order that highlights them as hers, ie May Ann first, Thomas (William) shown second, then Joseph a brother third and her father last. Joseph as the oldest boy would normally been shown first but her own children were listed as first and second as they would normally be with her brother and father below them. Sorry if I cause many of you to make changes but I hope you agree with my research, it seems the only logical explanation to the complicated Crump's, well not complicated now. Of course having John Crump's wifes age wrong did not help and she is now correctly shown as born 1784 as her death certificate shows her age 65 at her death in 1849.
