Chipeta or "White Singing Bird" was a Native American woman, and the second wife of Chief Ouray of the Uncompahgre Ute tribe. Born a Kiowa Apache, she was raised by the Utes. Chipeta led her people after the death of her husband in 1880.
Chipeta did not have children, but she did adopt and raise four children.
