Biography

Margaret Lavinia Nicholas was born 12 August 1875 in Virginia, the daughter of W. C. Nichols and Roxanna unknown maiden name. George Donald, referred to as George Sr, married Margaret Lavinia Nicholas 17 Nov 1895 in Washington D.C. In the 1900 census, George and wife Maggie L have three children - Howard S, George Jr. and Gladys (Margaret) and they are living at West Main St in Richmond, VA. Also there is Margaret's mother Roxanna Nicholas. In the 1910 census, they are still living in Richmond, VA but now on Kensington Av with their 6 children Howard S, George, Margaret G, Wm, Kenneth, and Lila M. In the 1920 census, George and Margaret L have two of their children with them - Kenneth and Lila M. Also living with them is George’s father Peter Donald. In the 1930 census George and Margaret are at 4704 Forest Hill Ave, Manchester, Chesterfield County VA with their two children Kenneth C and Lila M. Also living there are two boarders, Marion and Grace Shank. In the 1940 census, George and Margaret are at Midlothian in the county of Chesterfield County with their daughter Lila and her husband John Coxon. Also there are Lila and John’s two children. Margaret died 17 Dec 1942 Age 67 of a cerebral hemmorhage due to Hypertension and Arteriosclerosis. Margaret and her husband George are both buried in Maury Cemetery in Richmond, VA. Margaret was buried the next day, December 18th.
