He was born in the Elihu community November 13, 1924, son of the late Robert G. and Myrtle Colyer Farmer. He was a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II, 20 year employee of Brown Brothers Construction Company, member of Cedar Grove Baptist Church and attended Grave Hill Baptist Church. His wife, Pauline Ping Farmer, whom he married November 18, 1948, at Elihu, survives. Other survivors include three sons, Jeff Farmer, Somerset, Terry Farmer, Lexington, and Gary Farmer, Nicholasville; two daughters, Barbara Hail and Betty Whitis, both of Somerset; a sister, Charlotte Simms, Somerset, 12 grandchildren, Brooke, Dustin, Joshua, Natasha, Justin and Angela Farmer, Terry Farmer, Jr., Gary Farmer, Jr., Dwight and Shawn Michael Hail, Scott and Melissa Whitis; a step-grandchild, Robert Lee New; and a great-grandchild, Robert Cody Boyd. He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, James Farmer; two sisters, Geneva McGowan and Mildred Colyer. Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Thursday at Grave Hill Baptist Church with the Rev. Darry Hatfield officiating. Burial will be in Grave Hill Cemetery with military services conducted by American Legion Post No. 38.
