Austin Beals was a blacksmith in the town of St. Albans, Vermont. His father's first name was Enoch.[1] He was born on 10 November 1799.[2] The 1850 U.S. Census gives his birth place as Massachusetts, but his death record states that he was born in St. Albans.
He was married to Ruby Clark. The 1850 U.S. Census recorded Austin Beals, age 50 and a blacksmith, in St. Albans, Vermont, with Ruby Beals, age 47, and Jospephine Beals, age 10. Austin Beals was born in Massachusetts, Ruby Beals in Vermont, and Josephine Beals in Pennsylvania.[3]
He died in St. Albans on 9 December 1862, at age 63. His death was due to consumption. [1]
A stone in Greenwood Cemetery in St. Albans memorializes Austin Beals, Nov. 10, 1799 - Dec. 8, 1862; Ruby Beals, wife of Austin Beals, Jan. 18, 1803 - June 12, 1878; and their daughter Phebe Beals, March 4, 1829 - Dec. 19, 1847.[2]
