William Baker, born on 12 January 1849 in Anderson County, Tennessee, was a son of George Baker and Ann McAdoo.[1] After the war he was farming in Anderson County, where he married first Jennie Slagle[2] of Knox County in 1876. They had one child, Willie M in 1877, that died in Mar of 1878, a couple months before Jennie died.[3]
In 1880 William married his cousin Emma Whaley[4] and was appointed U.S. revenue gauger in the Tennessue 2nd District, where he served intil 1885, when he returned to Anderson County. He then entered the nursery business, growing 30,000 fruit trees.
Emma and William had at least six children[5][6] before he died on June 15, 1921 in Cooke County, Texas,.[7][3][8]
