Biography

Estelle Florence Abrams was born on 10 September 1862 to Robert R, Abrams and Anna May Elliott in Fayette County, Pennsylvania. She spent her early years in Monongahela, Pennsylvania where she displayed an aptitude for music.^[1][2] As a teen, she studied piano under Joseph H. Gittings at the Pennsylvania Womens College in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.^[3][4]

Following graduation, possibly prompted by Gittings, a himself former student of William H. Sherwood, she travelled to New York to study under the renowned pianist.^[5] Estelle would marry Sherwood on 3 December 1887 in Manhattan, New York.^[6][7] They would have two children together, Ruth Estelle Sherwood and Ethelinda Sherwood. ^[8][9]

She passed away after 1940.
