OGDENSBURG - Funeral services for Barbara Montpetit, 75, formerly of Lafayette Street, were held Monday at 1:30 p.m. at Frary Funeral Home, with Rev. Mark Lalonde officiating. Mrs. Montpetit passed away Thursday (Nov. 25, 2010) at Claxton-Hepburn Medical Center. Calling hours were held Sunday from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. She is survived by one daughter, Terri Whalen and husband Dave of California; one son, Esbon Worden and wife Jannette of Ogdensburg; four grandchildren, Lyle and DJ Whalen of California and EJ and Kristina Worden and companion Tony Montroy of Ogdensburg; and one great grandchild, Hailey. She is also survived by seven nieces and nephews, Cathy and DJ Green, Eileen and Mark Sharow, Brenda and Bob Tracy, Richard and Shelly Gibson, Becky and David Gilbo, Martha and Rusty McGaw and Jane and Dean Rivet; and great nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by a sister, Rose Gibson, and a niece, Sandy Cline. Mrs. Montpetit was born Sept. 17, 1935 in Ogdensburg, the daughter of Richard and Emma Tessier Alton. She graduated from OFA. She married Donald Montpetit on June 7, 1969 at City Hall. Mr. Montpetit died Nov. 16, 1989. Mrs. Montpetit first went to work at the Newell's Manufacturing and then Diamond National also later at ACCO. She retired from the St. Lawrence Psychiatric Center. After her retirement, she worked part-time at the Stone Fence. She enjoyed knitting and sewing. She also enjoyed playing bingo and visiting the casino. She loved her grandchildren. All donations made be made in Barbara Montpetit's honor to St. Jude's Children's Hospital.
