Sir Edward Astley (1604/5-54) was the 3rd of Thomas Astley (1567-1617) and his wife Frances, daughter and co-heir of George Deane of Tilney (Norfk). He was High Sheriff of Norfolk, 1652-53. He was knighted at Whitehall, 5 December 1641.
He m. 27 August 1639 at Melton Constable, his first cousin, Elizabeth (d. 1684), daughter of Sir Jacob Astley, 1st Baron Astley of Reading (m. 2nd, Henry Clifton (d. 1670) of Toftrees co. Norfk; d. 22 January 1683/4 , bur. at Melton Constable)
He died aged 49, 15 March, and was buried at Melton Constable 16 March 1653/4, where he is commemorated by a monument; his will was proved 13 May 1654.
