Lifelong homemaker devoted to family, church .

Josephine "Toby" Melchiorre, 92, longtime resident of Orange Street, Berwick, died Monday, June 4, 2012, at Rolling Hills Manor, Millmont, where she had been a resident since 2011. She resided at Elmcroft of Lewisburg before becoming a guest at Rolling Hills Manor.

She was born July 7, 1919, in Hazleton, and was a daughter of the late Nazareno and Antonia Daniels Cerasaro. .

Toby was a homemaker all her life. .

She was a member of St. Joseph's Roman Catholic Church, Berwick, Blue Army and faithfully recited the Rosary. .

Toby was devoted to her church and had a huge devotion to the Blessed Mother. Her life was very family oriented. .

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Anthony P. "Tony" Melchiorre Sr., who died in 2002, ending a marital span of 62 years. She also was preceded in death by a daughter, Donna Melchiorre, who died in 2010; sisters: Anna Defazio; Minnie Roberts; Mary Ealessandro; and brothers: Marcy and Anthony Cerasaro.

Surviving are a son, Anthony P. Melchiorre Jr., and his companion, Michael Vitale, of Mechanicsburg; Marie Pilger and her husband, Walter, of Lewisburg; Camille Collura and her husband, Joseph, of Dillsburg; eight grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and two brothers: Thomas Cerasaro of Hazleton; and Michael Cerasaro of Delaware.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Thursday morning, June 7, 2012, at 10 from St. Joseph's Roman Catholic Church, 721 Monroe St., Berwick, with the Rev. Dennis G. Dalessandro as celebrant. Burial will be in St. Mary's Cemetery, Briar Creek Township. Visitation for friends will be held Thursday morning from 9-10 at the church.

Contributions in her memory may be made to St. Joseph's Roman Catholic Church, 721 Monroe St., Berwick, PA 18603. .

Funeral arrangements are under the direction of the James L. Hinckley Jr. Funeral Home, 1024 Market St., Berwick. .
