Biography

OBITUARY: Edline Christine Bittner Weishuhn, 95, of La Grange, died Jan. 26, 2018 in La Grange. Edline was born in Warda on Oct. 19, 1922, the daughter of Ernst and Laura (Kasper) Bittner. She was baptized Oct. 29, 1922 and confirmed on April 5, 1936 at Holy Cross Lutheran Church in Warda. Her confirmation verse was Isaiah 43:1, “Do not fear, for I have redeemed you; I have summoned you by name; you are mine”. Edline was claimed by God many years ago and now has been called to her heavenly home. She married Lawrence Edward Weishuhn on Oct. 20, 1956 and they were married for 15 years until he died on May 15, 1971. She never remarried because she always said “There would never be another Lawrence” but held steadfast to her faith in God and raised five children by herself. One of her beloved children was her youngest daughter, Joyce who was born with Down Syndrome, Edline believed, “God only gave special children to special mothers” and Edline proved this by caring for her youngest daughter in her home until Joyce passed to her eternal home at 36 years of age on Feb. 6, 2000. Edline loved living on her farm and taking care of animals. She had a very special place in her heart for her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She is survived by two sons: David Weishuhn of La Grange; Barry Weishuhn of La Grange; one daughter, Linda Weishuhn Luce of Coahoma; two daughterin- laws, Ingrid Weishuhn and Virginia “Ginger” Weishuhn of La Grange; and one son-in-law, Brandon Luce of Coahoma; sister, Elizabeth Kappler; eight grandchildren: Brandon Weishuhn, Kelsey Weishuhn of Fort Worth, Tiffany Peter, Jennifer Weishuhn, Brittany Weishuhn, Christine Weishuhn of La Grange, Morgan Luce and Ashley Luce of Lubbock; three great-grandchildren, Dylan Simek, Halie Peter, and Madelyn Rae “Maddie” Peter of La Grange. Edline was preceded in death by her parents; brother, Gilbert Bittner; husband, Lawrence Weishuhn; two daughters, Kathleen and Joyce Weishuhn. Visitation was held on Monday, Jan. 29 from 4 to 7 p.m. at Fayette Memorial Funeral Home. Family received friends from 4 to 7 p.m. and a prayer service followed at 7 p.m. Funeral services will be held at Holy Cross Lutheran Church, 600 FM 1482 in Warda, at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, Jan. 30, 2018. Burial will follow at Holy Cross Cemetery. Family suggests memorials be made to Holy Cross Ladies Aid, P.O. Box 69, Warda, Tx 78960. Fayette Memorial Funeral Home in La Grange was in charge of arrangements.
